We walked up and down the wharf trying the different clam chowders. This restaurant was the first one we tried and all the other clam chowders just didn't compare. It tasted the best in my opinion, it was fresh and seasoned just right. We got the clam chowder that has bay shrimp and crab on top, with provolone that has been baked. It was so good. Very rich but not too heavy. Our waitress was amazing, very engaging. We also elected to get a drink so we went all out and got the one in the pineapple. It was pretty hilarious and a strong drink too. Will definitely be back to try more of the things on the menu.

Monterey restaurants are restricted to outdoor dining only. Old Fisherman's Grotto offers only 8 outdoor tables.

Is the one they put shrimp, crab and cheese on top and bake it? I see they have listing for plain clam chowder bowls and bread bowls but it doesn't say if it's the clambake. It was like 25$ if I remember right.

Yeah decent. Some steaks and gluten free noodles to choose from. Obviously you always need to be careful since it is cooked in the same kitchen as gluten things.

No. There is even a sign outside saying no kids.

Outdoor seating is along the walkway adjacent to the shops. There is plenty including some booths they set up in front of the closed shops. Great place for a great experience.

No they have their own wine .
